Our Nurse Practitioner, Gill Howe, sees patients with urgent problems three days a week. The nurses are also able to advise on minor injury or illness such as cystitis and ear infections. The nurses are able to see patients for the following:
Immunisations, chronic disease management (eg asthma, coronary heart disease, diabetes), BP checks, cervical screening, emergency contraception, family planning, ear irrigation, rashes, suture removal, dressings, injections, well person checks.
Our health care assistants can see you for new patient checks, ECGs, hearing tests, BP checks, spirometry, injections, simple wound dressings and over-75 checks.
Our Receptionists/Secretaries
We employ 37 staff, most of them part-time. All our receptionists have been
trained and many of them are very experienced. They have a lot of information
at their fingertips and could probably answer many of your queries. Anything you
tell them will be treated in absolute confidence. If you are unsure whether to
consult a doctor, nurse or health visitor etc, the receptionist will be able to
advise you. In fact, if you are in doubt about anything ask the receptionist.
If she does not know the answer she will ask someone who does. Please rest assured
that the rules of confidentiality apply equally to all practice staff. A brief
explanation of your problem may enable them to suggest the right person for advice,
or offer the most suitable appointment.
Please help them to help you.

TRAINING
Since 1981 the government has made it compulsory for all doctors to undergo
an apprenticeship comprising a three-year postgraduate training that includes one
year of GP experience in a training practice. We are an accredited training practice.
All our trainee doctors are called GP Registrars. They are qualified doctors who
have undergone five years' medical school training, passing all the necessary
exams. They are fully able to deal with all your problems. We also take medical
students from St George's Medical School and King's College Hospital. You
will always be notified if a student is sitting with your doctor. Your co-operation
in this important area is much appreciated by students and GP Registrars alike.
We are also involved in providing the clinical placement for trainee nurses.
